Job Summary

Assists the Director of Cardiopulmonary/Cardiovascular Services in a wide range of administrative duties as well as supervises and delegates assignments and projects appropriately. Develops and implements hospital and departmental policies and is primarily responsible for staff education and training. Assumes responsibility for marketing and managing the daily operation of the Sleep Lab. Safely manages the environment of care while providing services. Provides physical and supportive care and health teaching to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Essential Functions:

• Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care and status throughout the day and via report to appropriate personnel.
• Consistently and accurately documents patient information, status and treatment modalities in the required format.
• Interviews patients to assess current medications, recent caffeine and alcohol ingestion, current sleep pattern and need for treatment intervention during testing.
• Efficient application of recording devices to the patient, cleaning/sterilization of equipment and proper set up for monitoring or polysomnograms.
• Ensures the integrity of diagnostic data collection through proper calibration and vigilant monitoring throughout the procedure.
• Properly disassembles, cleans, assembles and packages equipment for processing.
• Monitors and performs therapeutic procedures on patients, receiving continuous mechanical ventilation after certification to perform these procedures.
• Educates and trains patients as appropriate regarding disease process and treatment modalities related to Sleep Lab services.
• Maintains a safe environment of care with proper preparation, use and care of equipment. Ensures that all equipment is changed, replaced and functioning properly and assists in maintenance and repair functions.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography program.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) by the Association of Polysonmography Technologist (APT)
• BLS from AHA

Experience:

• 1 year of supervisory experience in Sleep Lab.
